Chasing Down Spies

“There will be no one to stop us this time.” – Darth Vader

We were stationed on the Devastator chasing down this Corellian corvette called the Tantive IV. They claimed to be part of some Alderaanian Diplomatic Envoy, but Vader was sure they were spies for the Rebellion.

Rumor had it they were smuggling something. Something important. But it wasn’t our place to know what.

So anyway, we had tracked this little ship all the way from Scarif. We came out of hyperspace and easily disabled their propulsion systems. Honestly, I’m surprised we didn’t completely disintegrate the thing. It was like swatting a bug.

Lord Vader boards the ship and tears it apart, but can’t find whatever he’s looking for. After killing a few of the higher-ranking crew members, Bolvan finally fesses up that he saw an escape pod jettison and didn’t bother shooting it down.

We were all like, “WTF, Bolvan?!?” He said there were no lifeforms on board, so he didn’t want to waste a shot. That is some serious next-level laziness if you ask me. I mean, it’s not like we’re gonna run out of lasers or anything.

So Vader gets royally pissed. I can’t repeat the language he used, but let’s just say Bolvan had a few new holes when we was done.

Vader figured the Rebels probably hid the package on that escape pod, so he sent our unit to go collect it. No one was in it, so we figured it was going to be an easy job.

Hell, Vader himself said, and I quote, “There will be no one to stop us this time.” I gotta tell you, that really inspired me.

Thanks to Bolvan, the capsule already had a pretty good head start. We tracked its trajectory to the desert planet of Tatooine. It wasn’t too far, but for some reason, Lord Vader didn’t want to go. Instead, he took one prisoner back to base and blew up the Tantive IV. (That’s been declassified, right?)
