Discovery on Planet Hell

Discovery on Planet Hell

We got down to the planet, and holy bowels of Mustafar was it hot! I mean the damn planet had two suns, for crying out loud. And they were both in the sky at the same time!

I’m no astrophysicist, but how does that even work? Two suns. Right next to each other. Baking the whole @#$%ing planet.

And all of us in the unit were in full armor. I thought my brain was going to melt right out of the helmet.

The pod was right where the computer said it would be. But, we were shocked to find tracks leading out of the damn thing.

No life signs, my ass! Something carried that package out because there were no tracks leading up to the thing.

Then one of our keen-eyed guys spotted something reflecting the suns-light in the sand. He picked up a small metal washer commonly used in droid manufacturing.

So that was it. They sent the package down with a droid.

It had to have been programmed to meet up with somebody in the Rebellion. If we didn’t find the thing soon, the Rebels would collect the package and wipe the droid’s memory. That’d be the end of it.

Sandtroopers on Dewback

We figured this droid knew exactly where it was going.

The tracks looked like they were headed straight to nowhere – like they had no idea how to navigate in the desert. But, that’s what I’d do if I was a spy on the run. Go to the last place anyone would suspect.

Also, we discovered a moisture ranch right over the next dune. If the thing was just looking for life, it would’ve gone there.

The rancher was kind enough to lend us a few dewbacks to help in the search. It’s always nice to know there are good people proud to do the right thing for their Empire. The giant beasts stank to high hell, but at least we got off our feet for a while.

Despite the tracks, we had precious little to go on. The sand made it impossible to tell how many droids we were looking for, but our assumption was they only needed one.

Military-grade droids can cost some serious credits. And the Rebellion wasn’t exactly swimming in latinum since we cut off their banking privileges. So, why in the galaxy would they send more than one? It still doesn’t make any sense to me.

After following the tracks for a bit, we noticed a spaceport pop up on the map about 30 klicks from the landing site. That seemed like an optimal place to get off-world. So, we took a small fireteam to set up checkpoints around Mos Eisley while the rest of the squad continued following the tracks.
