Mos Eisley was visible from the high cliffs of the desert road.
Establishing Checkpoints
Meanwhile, our team had set out before dawn, traveling through the northern pass leading toward the spaceport. It was indeed desolate. I can see why they called it a “waste.” But, the cliffs afforded us some shade and we had a real road to walk on.
We came out the other side by mid-afternoon. Mos Eisley was visible from the high cliffs of the desert road. And so were the twin suns roasting the sand-whipped path to get there.
If this was a recreational hike, it would’ve made more sense to wait until nightfall to finish the journey. But time was our enemy, so we marched on.
Tatooine is a small world with few settlements. Most of its residents are either hiding from someone or can’t find a way out. Although technically in the Empire’s jurisdiction, there wasn’t anything here of value. So Palpatine just let the Hutts have it.
Mos Eisley was the only city (if you could even call it that) where a deep space pilot would care to dock. You could get fuel, drinks, and a really shitty meal. And maybe some dumbass might pay you to take them off this bloody rock. Otherwise, it was just running contraband for the Hutt organization.
Our team was spread pretty thin, so we mapped out the most like roads into town and set up checkpoints.
